Safeguarding and protecting children, young people and vulnerable adults

Safeguarding is a term that has been come into our vocabulary in recent years but is used to describe how we protect children, young people and vulnerable adults. It is a responsibility we all share and is a priority for many public services and local authorities. It is also a responsibility for any organisation or individual that comes into contact with any of these groups on a regular basis.

Safeguarding ensures that we protect children and young people from any maltreatment be that physical, mental or sexual and so ensures the best outcome as they progress through life. Vulnerable adults to have the right to live safely from abuse or neglect.
